This Medical Institute was established by a Trust namely, Thirumuruga Kirupanada Variyar Thavathira Sundara Swamigal Medical Educational and Charitable Trust, which was started back in 1981 with a motto to serve the community particularly the needy ones.

By the effort of the mentioned trust, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College was established in the year 2000. The Medical College is popularly known as AVMC, Puducherry is recognized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, and all the Advanced Medical Courses are well approved by the National Medical Commission (Earlier MCI), New Delhi. AVMC, Puducherry was initially affiliated with Pondicherry University and later it became an integral unit of Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation, a Deemed to be University in 2004. This Medical Institute is spread across a lush green campus of 44 acres along with the National Highway that connects Pondicherry to Cuddalore. AVMC has put much effort into the Medical Research sector by collaborating and establishing linkages with several National and International Research Institutes to promote Medical Research for the well-being of the community.

  • Candidates need to produce permanent/provisional registration provided by the NMC (Earlier MCI) or the respective state medical council.
  • Candidates need to obtain a minimum of 50 percentile in NEET-PG for General Category and for reserved category, the requirement is 40 percentile in the same.

All the admissions to any of the UG and PG Courses in AVMC, Puducherry are strictly based on merit gained in the All India Entrance Exam i.e. NEET-UG and NEET-PG for Postgraduate courses.
